Highlight Hit Words

After performing a search, you may want to highlight all the hit wordsClosed The verses, words, text, or other information found as the result of a search. Accordance helps you do this quickly and easily.

Hint

You can use this feature to mark up a grammatically tagged text with the parts of speech, or to mark the different tenses of all the verbs. Simply search for each grammatical term and highlight it with a different style.

To apply or remove a Highlight to hit words:

  1. Perform a search. Make sure the search results are displayed in the activeClosed The application, window, tab, or other screen element which is currently being used; sometimes called the "front" or "frontmost" screen element pane.
  2. Press Shift and choose a style on the Highlight palette. The Highlight style is applied to all hit words.
  3. The first time a highlight is applied to all hit words during a sessionClosed The arrangement of screen elements when working with Accordance, a message appears asking you to confirm the action, since it could take several minutes if a large number (many thousands) of hit words will be highlighted.
  4. You can also apply a Highlight style using the shortcut menuClosed Also known as a contextual menu, acessed by right-clicking (or pressing Ctrl+Click, Mac only) over a screen element (Highlight All Hits>*StyleName*).
  5. You can also apply a Highlight symbol using the shortcut menu (Highlight>Symbols>*Select a Symbol*).
  6. Press Shift and click Clear on the Highlight palette to remove highlighting from every hit word. All highlighting is removed from the hit words.

    The first time you remove highlighting from hit words during a session, a message appears asking you to confirm the action, since it cannot be undone.
