Amplifying To and From Tools
Not only can a Bible text be searched for related information in a tool (amplifying to a tool), but you can amplify To select words or a reference and search for the selection in the text or tool of your choice. You can select the resource in the Library or Amplify menus. A triple-click is a shortcut which amplifies to the top tool of the relevant category. from a tool. That is, you can make a selection in the Tool pane and amplify to any Bible Text or Tool.
When amplifying from a Text to a Tool, or from one Tool to another Tool:
- A new Tools tab opens with settings based on the current selection, unless a recycled tab with these settings is already open.
- The Tools pop-up menu (1) is always set to the tool you have selected.
- The initial setting in the Search Options pop-up menu (2) depends on the tool.
- The Field pop-up menu (3) setting matches the language of the selection you are amplifying.

The Search Entry box (4) contains either the verse references, the words, or the Key number you selected.
- Accordance searches each field in turn until it finds some hits.
- If desired, you can include the Scripture reference when amplifying from a text to a tool (in the General area of the Preferences dialog box). The option Include reference when amplifying automatically adds an extra field with the verse reference of the selection. This highlights the verse reference within the article found by the primary search. If the exact reference is not found with the selection, the tool is searched for the selection alone. Press Shift while amplifying to override the current setting of this option except when Shift is used as a different modifier for:
- triple-click shortcuts.
- Look Up in the shortcut menu Also known as a contextual menu, acessed by right-clicking (or pressing Ctrl+Click, Mac only) over a screen element.
- when Alt+ is also pressed.
- If your selection is in a Keyed Bible text and you click a dictionary using the same number scheme, Accordance displays the relevant articles in the dictionary. If you select a different dictionary or lexicon, Accordance simply searches for the English word, unless you press Alt+ to search for the original word.
