New Features in Version 11

Following is an overview of new features in Version 11 of Accordance Bible Software. For more information on working with one of these new features, click the linked text. This page summarizes changes in the main version 11 release. For subsequent changes in this release, please refer to the topics for each release.

New Info Pane (added via the Add Parallel menu): Displays useful information for the top verse (in the main pane), including:
Commentaries with information on this passage, based on the Library order; the default number of commentaries initially displayed is set in the Set Info Pane Display dialog box
All cross-references to the passage, including key words (if using the Treasury of Scripture Knowledge Enhanced), set in the Set Info Pane Display dialog box)
Topics relevant to the passage including Dictionary, Atlas, and Timeline look-up; press Shift+click on a topic to locate all verses associated with the topic
All Parallel Passages (pericopes) across installed parallel tools
All Apparatus, if installed
For non-biblical verses, displays the top Reference Tools for the passage.
Quick Entry in the Search Entry box: You can quickly enter information from a pop-up list that refines available search options as you type; simply select the desired offered item and Press Enter or Return to search for a Quick Entry. Entries can be in any language, and may also include symbols used in search commands or appearing in unusual book names. For example, typing Elijah_ lets you quickly enter A or B in the Pseudepigrapha.
Expanded Functionality of User Notes
New Notes file format: XXX.amynotes. The new file format enables use of a single Notes file across all corpuses and tools. You can convert all old User Notes files from the *.acc4 format to the new format via the User Files area of the Preferences dialog box.
Full support for Unicode content
Add Notes to Tools, in same manner as for Texts; press +U or click the pencil in the margin ().
Right-click the pencil icon () to quickly choose which User Notes file to use. The most recently used file can be automatically selected via the User Files area of the Preferences dialog box.
Notes for Tools are attached to a word in a paragraph, allowing multiple notes per paragraph or line.
New layout of the User Notes tab for easily locating and reading all your notes.
The User Notes tab includes a browser pane to easily navigate all notes in the file.
New Preferences affecting User Notes are provided in the User Notes Display area and User Files area of the Preferences dialog box.
New Categories and More
The Library now has five permanent main sections: Recently Opened, Texts, Tools, Backgrounds, and My Stuff.
In menus, Texts are automatically identified and categorized into one of five main menu categories: Modern Bibles, Greek Texts, Hebrew Texts, Latin Texts, and Other Texts. Your custom arrangement of Texts in the Library is automatically organized within the appropriate menu category.
All other resources can now be automatically reorganized in the Library according to a large range of new categories with associated icons. When using this automatic organization (at Startup or via the Appearance area of the Preferences dialog box), custom organization is removed. However, you can then rearrange all Tools to the desired category and folder, regardless of type (except for Parallels).
Library categories in the Tools section can be moved, renamed, deleted, or placed inside other categories and folders.
Any Tool tab can be switched to include any Tool from any Tool category.
The default action of a triple-click on a word is now defined in a new Amplify area of the Preferences dialog box.
Enhanced Bookmarks
Permanent Bookmarks can be created in any Text or Tool (including Parallels)
Bookmarks are listed in the Library and can be organized or opened (double-click to view)
Navigate between Bookmarks in a module using the Bookmarks pop-up menu in the Navigation bar
Press Shift+Opt and click to add a Bookmark
Bookmarks can be synced via Dropbox to other devices
Remember My Place: When closing or navigating through a module, the location is remembered and used when reopening that module; this feature works across devices if you have synced the current session via Dropbox.
Get Verses: Press Opt++A to insert verses into another word processing program on your computer
New terminology: The Argument Entry box is now referred to as the Search Entry box throughout the Accordance Help

Additional EnhancementsAdditional Enhancements

Additional information displayed with the 2011 New International Version with Goodrick-Kohlenberger Key numbers.
New Unicode Display area in the Preferences dialog box for choosing the Unicode font and style for display of Unicode original language content in upgraded User Notes, and for choosing the Unicode font and style to use when exporting original language Text.
New TOPIC search command: The [TOPIC ?] command helps you quickly find all verses in a Text that have been associated with a particular topic.
Easy Install and Downloads: Packages can be partially installed using disclosure triangles to access individual files; improved servers assure improved speed and reliability of downloads
Combined Resources: Compatible reference Tools can now be combined as sets in the same manner as for combining Texts; hence, this command has been changed from Combined Texts to Combined Resources. For example, the WBC-OT can be combined with the WBC-NT.
Interlinear information can now be printed.
Choose which Accordance elements to sync From the word synchronization; the process by which data is moved from a computer to a mobile device such as an iPad or iPhone via Dropbox, including the Current Session.

When selecting the Current Session, you can work on one computer, go somewhere else, and continue where you left off—even if you didn't restart or quit Accordance. If a new session is detected on Dropbox, you will be asked if you want to load the new session (i.e. the current session from your other computer), or ignore it.
The Setup Assistant has been redesigned, including the ability to skip optional settings and reopen it via the Help menu. This includes a warning regarding potential User Notes iOS incompatibility if upgrading your User Notes files. iOS compatibility will be offered in a future version of Accordance. You can choose to upgrade all User Notes files or cancel the Upgrade.
New/Revised Shortcut Keys to enter commands in the Search Entry box
To add a [TOPIC ?] command, press Shift+ +T
To add a [TAG ?] command, press Shift+ +G

User Notes tabs (if your User Notes were upgraded) can now be tied to Texts, Tools, and other User Notes files
Full names of modules Any Bible text, or other single tool that can be read in Accordance, including reference texts and articles; may also be referred to as content or resource used throughout, with minimal use of abbreviations
Map and Timeline enhancements
Amplify To select words or a reference and search for the selection in the text or tool of your choice. You can select the resource in the Library or Amplify menus. A triple-click is a shortcut which amplifies to the top tool of the relevant category. to the Map or Timeline with a phrase: all available selected words are amplified
Mouse over an item in the Map and Timeline to display default dictionary information in the Instant Details
Choose to use the arrow keys to navigate by verse/paragraph and Module, rather than move the blinking cursor (General area of the Preferences dialog box)
Ability to continue loading a session even if a module is missing
Support for more modern fonts
Reorganization of some content of the Preferences dialog box
The User Notes Reference items have been deleted from the User Files area; to format display of User Notes, use the User Notes Display area.
The Search All items are now referred to as Research items (Reading/Research area).
Recently used fonts are listed in the Font pop-up men of Edit windows.
New items available in the Set Concordance Display dialog box.
The Browser for Tool modules now allows searching the Table of Contents for titles in English, Hebrew, or Greek.
A new item in the Amplify area of the Preferences dialog box opens the Greek or Hebrew dictionary associated with a specific text, for a triple-click (overriding the manual settings via the pop-up menus).
When attempting to close Accordance, any open dialog box is brought to the font so that it can be closed.

Click the pericope A set of passages (one or more verses) which have been identified as a unit (for example, parallel passages) title in the Info Pane to open the Outline tool.
For synced devices, User Tools now use the My Places file to enable opening that module Any Bible text, or other single tool that can be read in Accordance, including reference texts and articles; may also be referred to as content or resource to the last place it was opened on another (synced) device. See Preferences: Syncing for more details about My Places.
The Note Order pop-up menu on a User Notes tab now lets you set the order of the notes based on any corpus Collection of writings found in the User Notes file. In the picture below, the same User Notes file is shown. On the left the Note Order has been set to the Hebrew Old Testament (HMT-W4). On the right the order matches that of the HCSB.
When searching the Library, the difference between plain (') and smart (’) quotes is ignored.
The menu in the GoTo box (bottom navigation bar) shows the currently selected book.
In a Search tab The core tab used to search Bible texts, it consists of a search entry area and a search results area, press Opt+Tab to change the focus to the top verse displayed in the active The application, window, tab, or other screen element which is currently being used; sometimes called the "front" or "frontmost" screen element pane.
Removed potentially redundant Check for Paid Updates listings.
Clicking OK in the save confirmation of a User Notes Edit window no longer opens a User Notes tab if none was open while editing the note.
Updated the Help files to this version.

When cycling through a Picture popover accessed from a Research tab, you can cycle through all of the results, not just the visible results.
The full grammatical information for words in the Syntax pane is now displayed in the Instant Details.
The Diagram pane can now be scrolled horizontally, using only the mouse wheel or trackpad, when parts of the diagram are off-screen.
When attempting to minimize a zone, if the Table of Contents of a Tool is too large, preventing minimization, you can now close the TOC directly.
The total number of notes added to a Text are now displayed in the User Notes tab.
Updated Help files, including fixing bugs where pictures for older versions of Accordance were displayed.

New items on the Action menu () in the Panes bar to untie panes. Selecting these items affects the pane in which they are selected, or all panes (if the All items are used).
Untie Scrolling: Unties scrolling of that Text pane from all other open panes. The other open panes remain tied to each other, as well as to the Info pane.
Untie All Scrolling (Shift+Open the Action menu): Unties scrolling in all open panes, including the Info pane.
Tie Scrolling: Ties scrolling of that Text pane to the Info pane and any other panes that were not untied.
Tie All Scrolling (Shift+Open the Action menu): Ties scrolling in all open panes, including the Info pane.
New shortcut to change the focus of all Text panes and the Info pane to the desired verse in the active pane: Press + click on the desired verse in the active Text pane. All tied panes, except Text panes, refocus to have that verse displayed topmost in the pane, the and Info pane displays information on that verse (see picture below).

Copy as Citation and Copy as Bibliography are now supported directly from within the Research tab.
Liturgical-based devotionals are now supported.
Get Verses automatically enters a selected Text reference into the Get Verses dialog box, for quick insertion into the front application. With Accordance in the background, type a verse reference in your other application, select it and press Opt++A.
New Get Verses items in the Export area of the Preferences dialog box.
When cycling through pictures in a Picture popover, the cycled pictures are the relevant ones from the current search.
When working with Slide Show Display, only the active Workspace needs to have one zone, rather than all open Workspaces.
Right-click on an existing User Note icon opens a pop-up menu with additional options available for adding notes to other User Notes files.
The Accordance Safe Mode Dialog Box has two additional items: Disable Automatic Dropbox Sync and Disable Automatic Updates.
The term "Tool Browser" in Tool tabs has been changed to "TOC" or "Table of Contents;" graphics related to this topic will be updated in a future version of the Help.
When installing a replacement or upgrade, the replaced item (resource Any Bible text, or other single tool that can be read in Accordance, including reference texts and articles; may also be referred to as content or module) is not deleted; rather it is moved to the bottom of its folder in the Library.
General performance enhancements.

When displaying enhanced NIV-GK hits for key numbers that are on a ‘missing’ word, the hit is highlighted with a null marker (), rather than being invisible.
The term "Cross References" and all variations of capitalization have been changed to "Cross-references" in the software and throughout the Help.
If you need to enter a specific character in upgraded User Notes, and that character is not supported in Unicode, simply. If desired, you can create User Notes files in the old format (pre-Version 11), which do not use Unicode and allows entering unsupported characters. To do so, when creating a new User Notes file, press + Opt+ and click OK.
When syncing From the word synchronization; the process by which data is moved from a computer to a mobile device such as an iPad or iPhone with an iOS device, you can now sync From the word synchronization; the process by which data is moved from a computer to a mobile device such as an iPad or iPhone from a new computer, if the Easy Install account names agree.
