New Features in Version 10

Following is an overview of new features in Version 10 of Accordance Bible Software.

Major New Features and EnhancementsMajor New Features and Enhancements

Revised Workspace with integrated Library and Instant Details. If desired, you can also view the Library and Instant Details as a popover.
New customizable toolbar in the Workspace, providing one-click access to your favorite features. The toolbar can be customized with a right-click, or via the Window menu.
Research items are now accessed via a box on the toolbar.
Panes can now have an alternate text so that two texts can be used in one pane to fill in the missing verses. For example, display HMT with GNT, LXX with GNT, or ESV with KJVA. Attach a text to a pane using the new Attach button (), or by pressing Shift when selecting another pane from its text menu.
Interlinear Display now supports MT-LXX The MT-LXX Interlinear Database is a purchased Accordance resource that enables Interlinear Display of your installed Hebrew and Septuagint texts. mapping of the Hebrew bible to the Greek Septuagint, and vice versa. To use this feature a tagged Text Hebrew Bible or Greek Septuagint must be open in the pane. Either the MT-LXX Parallel or MT-LXX Interlinear must also be installed. See the module Any Bible text, or other single tool that can be read in Accordance, including reference texts and articles; may also be referred to as content or resource information on the Accordance website for more details.
You can now sync User Notes, User Tools, and Highlight files with Dropbox, and then sync From the word synchronization; the process by which data is moved from a computer to a mobile device such as an iPad or iPhone with your other Accordance installations (and Accordance on iOS). Syncing be done manually, or automatically behind the scenes (when possible), and is set up via a new Syncing area of the Preferences dialog box.
The Search Entry area has been rearranged and simplified, including:
Click the Search Options pop-up menu () to access the search history, clear the history, or choose anExact or Flex search.
Click the Word/Verse button to select the type of search.
The Search button has been removed, simply press Return or Enter. The search argument is dimmed once the search is run.
Click the plus button () to access additional search conditions (previously referred to as "More" options), for example, Range, or Scope. These can be arranged as desired.
Improved Search Capabilities
New "Flex" search that finds all verses containing English grammatical forms, plurals, and singulars of all words rather than exact phrases (unless excluded by quotes). For example, a search for "forgive" would find "forgive," "forgiven," and "forgiving."
Auto Words/Verses Search. Words/Verses searches switch automatically if the search argument is not found via the selected search type, and correctly chooses the type of search regardless the default search type.
Auto Context. When enabled in the Preferences dialog box (Search Tab area), Auto Context automatically adjusts the context slider for each search. Word searches are set to the default context set in the Preferences. Non-contiguous verse searches (Gen 1:1, 4) display no context. Contiguous verse searches (such as Romans or 1John 2:4) display all context. This item is set by default when Version 10 is first installed.
The Export preferences are now in a separate Export area of the Preferences dialog box. The items have been removed from the Greek & Hebrew area.

Module icons include book covers and more user-friendly module names.

Amplifying to a user group in the Library is now done via Research.
Open module information by clicking the Info button () that appears when passing the cursor over the module name.
New Filter controls at the bottom of the Library display only the content you need. These controls can also be hidden.
New Recent modules section is displayed at the top of the Library, listing the most recently accessed modules.
Use the More/Less (/) buttons to hide or show more content in the Library.
Parallel panes are now added to the workspace using the Add Parallel button on the Hit Options bar. Click Add Parallel to open a pop-up menu and select the desired resource Any Bible text, or other single tool that can be read in Accordance, including reference texts and articles; may also be referred to as content or module to be displayed in the pane.
The Pane bar has a new Actions button (), from which additional options for working with panes can be accessed.
Major enhancements to the Instant Details
The Instant Details can be viewed as an integrated part of the Workspace. In this case, display of the Instant Details relates to the active The application, window, tab, or other screen element which is currently being used; sometimes called the "front" or "frontmost" screen element pane in that Workspace only. If there is no room in the Workspace, the Instant Details automatically opens detached from it, with the same behavior as in earlier versions of Accordance.
Popover Instant Details can be displayed when you click and hold on a word or Opt+Click on a word.
The Instant Details can be detached from the Workspace to achieve the same behavior as in previous versions of Accordance.
Column display of large amounts of content when the Instant Details are viewed in the Workspace or a floating window.
The Instant Details popover automatically adjusts to its content; a scroller The control you drag in the scroll bar appears if there is too much text to view at once.
An Upgrade Calculator has been added to the Easy Install and Check for Updates dialog boxes. This option lets you view available package and upgrade options online, the price of the upgrade, what modules would be added to your library, and the cost of those modules if bought individually.
Support for Westminster Hebrew Syntax
Enhancements to the Atlas and Timeline
- Icon buttons replace text buttons for searching and zooming in/out of Map or Timeline tabs.
- Map distances and Timeline time spans are now displayed at the top of the Map or Timeline tab, so information is accessible when magnifying and for Slide Show display.

Other ChangesOther Changes

Accordance fonts can only be used with other word processing programs by using the FontFix utility. It can be installed via the Downloads page.
Key number information can now be displayed for original words in the Instant Details and Dynamic Interlinear Display. The Key text to use is set in the Compare area of the Preferences dialog box.
Automatic saving of up to 50 of the last created sessions, accessed via the Accordance Files folder.
A popover appears when applying Highlights, entering Characters, and accessing Library module info.
A new picture popover for viewing pictures.
The File > New menu has expanded options to enable selecting a specific module.
The maximum text width in a pane, in inches or centimeters, can be set via the Appearances area of the Preferences dialog box. This option is especially useful when reading in large zones or panes.
Easier control over tabbed areas of the Workspace
New icons throughout the interface
New look and feel to these Help files with improved search and bookmarking capabilities.
Recent Modules are accessible via the Library and the "New" menus (for example, File>New).
New Themes for viewing Text and Tool modules. Your display can be customized based on one of these themes via the Preferences dialog box (Text Display and Tool Display areas). You can also preview the themes.
Easier access to Dynamic Interlinear Display of text via an Interlinear button () on the Pane bar. A single click on the button opens/closes Dynamic Interlinear Display of text.
An Action menu () has been added to all Analytics tabs and the Parsing tab, providing easy access to the most commonly accessed display settings.
Enhanced display of graphs and pie charts.
Many items in the Preferences dialog box have been updated to reflect new functionality in Accordance Version 10, including:
New Reading/Research area added to the Preferences dialog box for setting your default Daily Reading, Reading view, and Research settings.
Moving the Maximum Number of Zones item to the Appearance area.
Addition of a Tabs and Zones area to the Appearance area.
Additional items in the Text Display and Tool Display areas, for choosing and customizing Themes.
In general, the following Preferences have modifications: General area, Appearance area, Text Display area, Tool Display area, Instant Details area, and Search Tab area. View the specific topics in this Help for details.
Default display of all text: A new Workspace (Search tab The core tab used to search Bible texts, it consists of a search entry area and a search results area) now displays all the text when opened, even if the default Search is set to Words.
English Dictionary Look-up in the Instant Details (Key Number Texts): Press while hovering over a word with a key number, to see the Key dictionary entry, followed by the entry from the top English dictionary.
Color of New Diagramming Items: When dragging an item from the Diagram palette, its color and style now depend upon whether another item is already selected. If no items are selected, the new item is initially black with a plain style. If an item is selected, the new item is the color and style of the selected item, as before.

Changes in TerminologyChanges in Terminology

The term "leading," which appears in several of the Preference items, has been replaced with the term "line spacing."
The term "palette" is no longer used when referring to the Instant Details, Highlight, or Characters.
The term "Details," has been changed to "Analytics."
The Assistant/Research area of the Preferences dialog box has been changed to "Reading/Research."

Removed FeaturesRemoved Features

The Resource palette has been removed; all related actions are now performed via the Library, the toolbar, or menu items.
The Assistant Window has been removed; options for general reading (Reading Mode) and opening a Daily Reading are accessed via the new Toolbar.
The Assistant/Research area of the Preferences dialog box has been removed and replaced by a Reading/Research area.
The Search button has been removed from the Search Entry area, simply press Return or Enter. The search argument is dimmed once the search is run.
The Additional Pane buttons have been removed from the Pane bar; instead, additional panes are added via the Add Parallel button (on the Hit Options bar).
The Interlinear item and Show pop-up menu next to it have been removed from the Pane bar and replaced with an Interlinear button () from which all Interlinear settings are accessed. A single click on the button opens/closes Dynamic Interlinear Display of text.
Palettes are no longer used to access the Instant Details, Highlight files, or to insert characters from other languages. Instead they function as popovers, which automatically close when the cursor moves outside of them.
The Instant Details is a uniquely isolated pane, integrated with the Workspace. When not displayed, click-and-hold on a word to display the Instant Details popover for the selected item. Former behavior of the Instant Details can be achieved using the Detach button ().
A Highlights popover appears instead of the Highlight palette.
A Characters popover appears instead of the Characters palette. The Characters popover can be detached using the Detach button ().
The keyboard shortcut Hover+ Opt+ for English tool look-up from the Instant Details has been removed. Instead, right-click the word in the Tool, press Shift and choose Lookup>Dictionary from the pop-up menu.
The Export items have been removed from the Greek & Hebrew area of the Preferences to their own Export area.
