Following is an overview of new features in Version 10 of Accordance Bible Software.

  • Accordance fonts can only be used with other word processing programs by using the FontFix utility. It can be installed via the Downloads page.
  • Key number information can now be displayed for original words in the Instant Details and Dynamic Interlinear Display. The Key text to use is set in the Compare area of the Preferences dialog box.
  • Automatic saving of up to 50 of the last created sessions, accessed via the Accordance Files folder.
  • A popover appears when applying Highlights, entering Characters, and accessing Library module info.
  • A new picture popover for viewing pictures.
  • The File > New menu has expanded options to enable selecting a specific module.
  • The maximum text width in a pane, in inches or centimeters, can be set via the Appearances area of the Preferences dialog box. This option is especially useful when reading in large zones or panes.
  • Easier control over tabbed areas of the Workspace
  • New icons throughout the interface
  • New look and feel to these Help files with improved search and bookmarking capabilities.
  • Recent Modules are accessible via the Library and the "New" menus (for example, File>New).
  • New Themes for viewing Text and Tool modules. Your display can be customized based on one of these themes via the Preferences dialog box (Text Display and Tool Display areas). You can also preview the themes.
  • Easier access to Dynamic Interlinear Display of text via an Interlinear button () on the Pane bar. A single click on the button opens/closes Dynamic Interlinear Display of text.
  • An Action menu (Action pop-up menu: Provides additional options ) has been added to all Analytics tabs and the Parsing tab, providing easy access to the most commonly accessed display settings.
  • Enhanced display of graphs and pie charts.
  • Many items in the Preferences dialog box have been updated to reflect new functionality in Accordance Version 10, including:
  • New Reading/Research area added to the Preferences dialog box for setting your default Daily Reading, Reading view, and Research settings.
  • Moving the Maximum Number of Zones item to the Appearance area.
  • Addition of a Tabs and Zones area to the Appearance area.
  • Additional items in the Text Display and Tool Display areas, for choosing and customizing Themes.
  • In general, the following Preferences have modifications: General area, Appearance area, Text Display area, Tool Display area, Instant Details area, and Search Tab area. View the specific topics in this Help for details.
  • Default display of all text: A new Workspace (Search tabClosed The core tab used to search Bible texts, it consists of a search entry area and a search results area) now displays all the text when opened, even if the default Search is set to Words.
  • English Dictionary Look-up in the Instant Details (Key Number Texts): Press while hovering over a word with a key number, to see the Key dictionary entry, followed by the entry from the top English dictionary.
  • Color of New Diagramming Items: When dragging an item from the Diagram palette, its color and style now depend upon whether another item is already selected. If no items are selected, the new item is initially black with a plain style. If an item is selected, the new item is the color and style of the selected item, as before.

  • The term "leading," which appears in several of the Preference items, has been replaced with the term "line spacing."
  • The term "palette" is no longer used when referring to the Instant Details, Highlight, or Characters.
  • The term "Details," has been changed to "Analytics."
  • The Assistant/Research area of the Preferences dialog box has been changed to "Reading/Research."

Removed FeaturesRemoved Features

  • The Resource palette has been removed; all related actions are now performed via the Library, the toolbar, or menu items.
  • The Assistant Window has been removed; options for general reading (Reading Mode) and opening a Daily Reading are accessed via the new Toolbar.
  • The Assistant/Research area of the Preferences dialog box has been removed and replaced by a Reading/Research area.
  • The Search button has been removed from the Search Entry area, simply press Return or Enter. The search argument is dimmed once the search is run.
  • The Additional Pane buttons have been removed from the Pane bar; instead, additional panes are added via the Add Parallel button (on the Hit Options bar).
  • The Interlinear item and Show pop-up menu next to it have been removed from the Pane bar and replaced with an Interlinear button () from which all Interlinear settings are accessed. A single click on the button opens/closes Dynamic Interlinear Display of text.
  • Palettes are no longer used to access the Instant Details, Highlight files, or to insert characters from other languages. Instead they function as popovers, which automatically close when the cursor moves outside of them.
  • The Instant Details is a uniquely isolated pane, integrated with the Workspace. When not displayed, click-and-hold on a word to display the Instant Details popover for the selected item. Former behavior of the Instant Details can be achieved using the Detach button (Click to detach and turn into a floating window).
  • A Highlights popover appears instead of the Highlight palette.
  • A Characters popover appears instead of the Characters palette. The Characters popover can be detached using the Detach button (Click to detach and turn into a floating window).
  • The keyboard shortcut Hover+ Opt+ for English tool look-up from the Instant Details has been removed. Instead, right-click the word in the Tool, press Shift and choose Lookup>Dictionary from the pop-up menu.
  • The Export items have been removed from the Greek & Hebrew area of the Preferences to their own Export area.
