Working with User Notes
The User Notes feature lets you add notes on any verse in a Text module
Any Bible text, or other single tool that can be read in Accordance, including reference texts and articles; may also be referred to as content or resource or location in a Tool module.
- For Texts, the note is always attached to that verse reference, in any displayed version.
- For Tools, the note is specific to that particular resource Any Bible text, or other single tool that can be read in Accordance, including reference texts and articles; may also be referred to as content or module. The note is attached to the selected word in a paragraph, enabling multiple notes per paragraph or per line.
For ease of access, all User Notes for Texts and Tools are stored in a single User Notes file.
- User Notes can be opened in an additional pane, as follows:
- In a Search tab The core tab used to search Bible texts, it consists of a search entry area and a search results area, click Add Parallel>My Notes and select the desired User Notes file.
- In a Tool tab, click Add Notes and select the desired User Notes file.

Click on the Notes icon (
) to the far right of the Text. - User Notes can be opened in a Tool tab, as follows:
- Press ) to the far right of the Text.

Open the User Notes file via the Library or the toolbar.
Note
When accessing a User Notes file via the toolbar, if a verse reference or a location in a Tool is selected, the Edit window opens for adding/editing a User Note at that location.
- When opened in a Tool tab, you can navigate through the entire file using the table of contents on the left, just like for a standard Tool.
- The file extension for User Notes is *.amynotes.

Note to Experienced Users You can convert all old User Notes files from the *.acc4 format to the new format via the User Files area of the Preferences dialog box. |
User Notes fully support Unicode content for easy entry of Greek, Hebrew and other languages.
The User Notes file can also be opened, searched, and accessed from the Library, Amplify To select words or a reference and search for the selection in the text or tool of your choice. You can select the resource in the Library or Amplify menus. A triple-click is a shortcut which amplifies to the top tool of the relevant category. menu, or toolbar, like any other Accordance module.
Once notes have been added to a User Notes file, small page symbols indicate that a note has been attached to the verse or content, as follows:
- A single page icon (
) appears on the far right beside any verse to which a note has been added. Click the page icon to open the User Note for that verse. - If more than one note has been added to a verse, the single page changes to a two-page icon (). Click the two-page icon to open all User Notes for that verse.

Right-click on a User Notes icon to open a pop-up menu with additional User Note options.
- Mouse-over or click-and-hold the single or two-page icon to view the top User Note for that verse in the Instant Details.
- A sample User Notes file titled "Sample Notes" can be opened in Accordance and used to explore this feature. You can find it in the Accordance Files/User Notes folder. This file cannot be edited.
