Tool, User Note, and Syntax Panes
Use the Add Parallel pop-up menu to open panes containing Reference Tools, User Notes, or the Greek or Hebrew Syntax. User Notes include margin notes or your own commentaries.
- Tool and User Notes panes are initially added in a second lower row beneath the Text pane(s).

The Syntax pane is initially displayed in parallel to the text pane.
If a Syntax pane is open with another text in the Search tab The core tab used to search Bible texts, it consists of a search entry area and a search results area, the Syntax pane is also displayed in a new Text tab when amplifying to Context () via the toolbar, or clicking a text reference link in a Parallel Reference tool pane.
- You can reposition any pane using the Pane Position button () to move them to a different row.
Hint A narrow pane is ideal for margin notes, whereas a full commentary is often better displayed in a wider pane at the bottom. |
- Each pane displays the entire tool rather than the entries for selected verses. However, all the panes scroll together so that the verses at the top of the panes are aligned as far as possible.
- The text of the tools shown in these panes is the same as in the specialized tabs for these tools; you can amplify To select words or a reference and search for the selection in the text or tool of your choice. You can select the resource in the Library or Amplify menus. A triple-click is a shortcut which amplifies to the top tool of the relevant category. from the content and follow links. However, you cannot search the tools inside the Search tab.
- When you follow an internal link in a tool pane, the Prior and Next buttons appear at the bottom of the workspace and function in the same manner as for a Tools tab.
- A right-click in the pane opens a shortcut menu Also known as a contextual menu, acessed by right-clicking (or pressing Ctrl+Click, Mac only) over a screen element. The About The Text item displays the full name and copyright information for the text in the pane.
Note If the search text is not a Biblical text, the Add pane and text pane pop-up menus show only the reference tools and User Notes that belong to the same corpus Collection of writings. When a new reference tool Any non-Biblical text that provides supplemental information about the text, for example, a lexicon, dictionary, or commentary of that corpus is added, it must first be opened in a Tool tab before it can be added as a pane in the Search tab. |
