[MERGE ?]
The MERGE command is unique to the Tools tab, and is particularly useful to those with MT-LXX The MT-LXX Interlinear Database is a purchased Accordance resource that enables Interlinear Display of your installed Hebrew and Septuagint texts. Parallel installed. This command has two different functions:
- To search two fields in the same tool. Use the MERGE command in any Tools tab to link to another tab that displays the same tool but is searching a different field. This is similar to using the additional fields when searching for words.
This use of MERGE is different from the LINK command because it does not import the search argument rather the lists of hits and articles found in the first tab. The tab containing the MERGE command must be searching a different field of the same tool, and should have an additional search argument. - To import both the contents and the search argument from a Bible text. This use of MERGE is an extension of the CONTENTS command for Reference tools. You can use MERGE to link a Reference tool to a Search tab The core tab used to search Bible texts, it consists of a search entry area and a search results area with a search argument. The search result is the hit words The verses, words, text, or other information found as the result of a search from the Search tab found within the commentary articles that apply to the verses in the Search tab.
In each case the search results are merged together from one tab to another.
An example in a commentary could be to search the KJVS for "Adam" and to set Henry's Commentary to merge with the Search tab. The Tools tab would show articles on the verses in the Search tab only if they also contain the word "Adam." If the argument in the Search tab is changed to "Moses", the Tools tab would also update and search for the new argument.
As indicated above, the main application for the MERGE command is when additional search criteria can be used in the Search tab, and then applied to a tool such as the MT-LXX Parallel database.
The MERGE command lets you search the original Bible texts, and highlight the results in the tool. This powerful module Any Bible text, or other single tool that can be read in Accordance, including reference texts and articles; may also be referred to as content or resource aligns each word of the Hebrew Bible with its equivalent or translation in the Septuagint. However, the Hebrew and Greek words are shown in their inflected forms (although without the Hebrew vowel points), and are not linked to any grammatical information.
You can search Bible texts by any criteria allowed in grammatically tagged texts. When you merge the MT-LXX Parallel to the Search tab, the tool is searched for all inflected forms (actual words) found, in the same set of verses as the search results.
