Converting User Tools to Standard Tools

You can convert User Tools to a standard Tool, also known as an Imported Tool. By doing so, you can add User Notes, apply Highlights and perform full content searches as for other Tools.

Notes

  • Conversion to a standard Tool is intended to be one direction only. Make sure your User Tool is finished and ready to be converted.
  • You can copy the Imported Tool file from the Accordance folder to share with other Accordance users. After conversion, Imported Tools cannot currently be synced to a mobile device.
  1. Open the User Tool in a User Tool tab.
  2. On the User Tool Action menu (Action pop-up menu: Provides additional options ), choose Convert User Tool to Tool. A message box opens, asking you to confirm the conversion. Once the User Tool is converted, it is no longer directly available for editing.

The imported Tool is placed in the Other Books category of the Library and marked with a degree symbol (°).

Editing Imported Tools after Conversion

The original User Tool is saved by Accordance in the Accordance Files/Old User Tools folder.

If you find that the Imported Tool needs editing after conversion, you can reinstall it as a User Tool, edit it, and then import it again. Note, however, that any notes or highlighting applied to content may not be accurate when reapplied, depending on how much the User Tool was edited.
