Create a User Layer
Once in Edit mode, you can work with the User Layer palette and different Atlas tab options, as detailed below.
1. Open the User Layer palette to enter Edit mode
From the User Layer pop-up menu, choose Edit User Layer.
2. Click Items on the User Layer Palette to Add Text, Lines, and Shapes
- Only one item in each section of the User Layer palette can be selected at a time.
- Click on another option to change the setting for the currently selected object and subsequent objects drawn.
- If you select an object on the layer, the palette setting does not change to show the settings for the selected object.
- To insert a line break in the text (if added), press Shift+Enter.
3. Manipulate the Atlas as Desired with the Atlas Controls
- While the Atlas tab is in Edit mode you can use the Background, Site Layers, Region Layers and Route Layers as usual. This is useful for seeing how the new/edited User Layer looks when displayed with other layers.
- The Find, In, Out, and Animate buttons, as well as the scroll bars, may be used as usual.
- Like other layers, objects in the User Layer are scaled proportionately as you zoom in and out of the map (except that lines have a fixed point width).
- While the Atlas tab is in Edit mode, you cannot:
- Use the
- Drag to scroll the Atlas.
- Drag-select a box to select an area of the Atlas.
- Use Shift+
- Manually select a name on any other Atlas layer.
- Open a 3D Map window.
4. Save the New or Edited User Layer
To leave Edit mode and save the new/edited User Layer, do one of the following:
- Click Done (
) at the bottom of the User Layer palette. -
Press Enter .
Changes to the User Layer are saved and the Atlas tab returns to the standard display mode.
- You can also click Close on the top left corner of the User Layer palette or the Atlas tab; in this case a message appears, asking if you want to save or discard the changes, or cancel the close action.
