Atlas Keyboard Shortcuts

Shortcuts Using the + key:

Press To
+ B Applies bold to text (when editing a layer)
+ F Opens the Find dialog box when a Atlas tab is activeClosed The application, window, tab, or other screen element which is currently being used; sometimes called the "front" or "frontmost" screen element, otherwise opens the Research tab
+ T Opens the Set Atlas Display dialog box for the active Atlas tab or changes the text style to Plain (when editing a layer)
+ U Edit a User Layer on an Atlas layer, or a User note or tool, or styles text Underline
+ ] Stores the styles of the selected text (this may not work on all keyboards)
+ [ Replaces the styles of selected text with the previously stored styles (this may not work on all keyboards)
+ + Zooms in on the Atlas tab
+ - Zooms out of the Atlas tab

 

Double-click action

Double-click on a name in 2D Atlas window to open and search in the default English tool (defined in the Preferences or Set Atlas Display dialog box).


Click-and-Hold action

Click-and-hold on the map to open the Instant Details.

Keyboard Shortcuts Affecting the Atlas Tab

All commands in the following table refer to the 2D Atlas tab, unless otherwise specified

Press To
+ + Zooms in on the Atlas tab
+ - Zooms out of the Atlas tab
Drag-Select and Double-Click Zooms into the selection
Shift+Zoom In or Out Multiplies the zoom by 4 (2D or 3D map)
Shift++Click Zooms in to that point
Opt+Zoom Out Zooms out to show the entire Atlas
+ Drag A hand appears and you can drag the Atlas in any direction.
+ any arrow key Scrolls the Atlas in the indicated direction
Shift+Click on a Name Opens and searches the default English tool, or the first English tool with that item mentioned in it.
Opt+Click+Drag Measures distances (displayed on top right of the Atlas tab)
Opt+Click on the Animate check box Stops route animation and displays the entire route
Opt and Open a 3D map Displays the 3D map without layers
Shift+3D Palette Controls Constrains the controls to vertical and horizontal movement

Keyboard Shortcuts when Editing a User Layer for Maps

Press To
Shift+Draw/Resize Oval or Rectangle Constrains the drawing to a circle or a square
Shift+Click on the corner of a pasted picture Restores original size
+ Drag a Bezier Point Pulls out the handles
Shift++Drag a Handle Breaks the alignment between the handles
Shift++Drag a Bezier Point Pulls out only one handle
