Set Tool Display for "XXX" Dialog Box

Use: The Set Tool Display for "XXX" dialog box is used to control several aspects of tools displayed in the activeClosed The application, window, tab, or other screen element which is currently being used; sometimes called the "front" or "frontmost" screen element pane. You can also set the defaults for that Tool moduleClosed Any Bible text, or other single tool that can be read in Accordance, including reference texts and articles; may also be referred to as content or resource in all new panes or tabs.

Description: The label of this dialog box is dynamic and changes based on the tool displayed in the active pane/tab. In addition, clicking the Customize Theme button displays additional items. You can have a different setting for each installed Tool module. Changes affect only the active Tool pane. If you want your changes applied to the specific active Tool, click Use as Default.

Default display for all Tool modulesClosed Any Bible text, or other single tool that can be read in Accordance, including reference texts and articles; may also be referred to as content or resource and Users Tools is set in the Tool Display area of the Preferences dialog box.

  1. Place the cursor in any active Tool pane.
  2. Do one of the following:
  3. On the Pane bar Action menu (Action pop-up menu: Provides additional options ), choose Set Tool Display.
  4. On the Display menu, choose Set Tool Display.
  5. Press Ctrl+T .

Theme Area: Items here relate to the selected Theme and how it is displayed for all Tool modules.

  • Theme Pop-up Menu: Opens a list of pre-defined Themes that can be applied globally to all Tool modules. The theme is previewed in the bottom preview pane.
  • Customize Theme Button: Displays additional items on the right side of the dialog box, for further customizing the Theme applied to the module.
  • Size Pop-up Menu: This item sets the default font size for all Themes.
  • Hide word highlighting: When selected, color word highlighting of words in the tool is turned off.
  • Line Spacing Slider: Move the slider to add space between text lines and improve readability. The text displays and prints with the line spacing set here.

Page Numbers Area: Changes here affect how page numbers listed in the Tool are handled.

  • Hide Page Numbers: When selected, the page numbers are not displayed for this Tool.
  • Color Pop-up Menu: Opens the standard color pop-up menu for selecting a different default color for displayed page numbers.

Hypertext Area: Changes here affect how links are displayed and handled in this Tool.

  • Text Pop-up Menu: Choose the Bible text used to open a Scripture reference link, or view the text in the Instant Details when a cursor is over a reference. You can choose from any installed text.
  • Alternate Text Pop-up Menu: Choose the Bible text to use if the verse is not found in the first text.
  • Picture Pop-up Menu: Used to specify the appearance of Picture links in the tool. You can choose to display a Very Small, Small, Medium, Large, or Very Large "thumbnail" of the picture to which the link refers, to display a simple picture Icon, or to display no thumbnail or icon at all (None).

Clicking the Customize Theme button provides access to the following items.

Contents Area: Items in this section relate to the format of the tool content. 

  • Font and Color: Choose from any font available on your system (unless the text is Greek or Hebrew), along with a range of colors.

Search highlighting area: Options in this area are used to choose how "hit" words are displayed in the text.

  • Color Pop-up Menu: Used to choose from a wide selection of colors, or creating a custom color.
  • Choose Custom Color: Opens the standard Windows dialog box which offers many ways for defining a color.
  • Custom: Selects the currently defined custom color.
  • Style Pop-up Menu: Used to set the style of "hit" words. The word "Sample" displayed next to the option displays the currently selected style. To remove a style, select it again from the menu, or select Plain Text to remove all styles. Available styles are: Bold, Italic, Underline, Outline, Shadow, and Plain Text.

Hypertext Area: Changes here affect how links are displayed and handled in this tool.

  • Color and Style Pop-up Menus: Changes affect the color and style of links in the tool. Options are the same color and style options as in the Search highlighting area.

Text area: Options in this area set parameters for display of the entire tool content.

  • Background Pop-up Menu: Used to set the background color of the pane. A variety of colors including pastels and black are offered. You can also set a custom color.

Use as Default button: Applies your changes as the default display of the active Tool.
